What is dental bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure where Dr. Matney will apply and mold tooth-colored composite resin to the area that needs to be repaired. Dental bonding is faster than other cosmetic dentistry procedures and doesn’t require much downtime. Dental bonding can conceal chips, gaps, or other visual imperfections to complete your smile once again.

Does bonding ruin your teeth?

Dr. Matney uses dental bonding for patients with broken teeth or cracked teeth, or other dental imperfections, such as gaps. Since composite resin molds fit the tooth, dental bonding does not have a high chance of ruining the natural tooth. Instead, dental bonding can repair and restore your smile! Dr. Matney and our team at Ballston Dental Care can also safely remove or repair dental bonding when requested.

How long does dental bonding last?

Composite resin is durable and resistant to pressure and is often used during dental procedures. When used for dental bonding, dental bonding can last between three and ten years. However, how long the tooth bonding will ultimately last will vary for each patient and their personal and oral habits. To encourage dental bonding to stay, avoid chewing on hard foods, attend exams and cleanings, and practice good oral hygiene.
